Word choice

It's good to see she's doing better. She definitely appears/seems to be in high/good Christmas spirit/spirits.

What should I use for the sentence to be as natural as possible?

Top answer

She seems to be in high Christmas spirits. To my ear, "definitely" and "seems" are somewhat contradictory. CJ

The plural is used in "high/good spirits". "Christmas spirit" is a different sort of spirit, and it is singular. It is wordplay to speak of "Christmas spirits", and there had better be a reason for it.
