Grammar

Word choice

Hi

Please tell me if the word "although" is appropriate in the sentence.

The people of the ancient Assyrian Empire were renowned warriors, although they also crafted some of the best-preserved ancient art.

I came across the sentence in a sentence correction exercise. Although I don't see any grammatical errors in the sentence, I don't understand the need for although. As it is seems to mean that artists cannot make good warriors. which to me does not stand reason.

Please give your views.

This could work in the right context. For example, it could be part of an essay titled "Were the ancient peoples of the Near East focused on war or the arts?"
