Should it be 'rank' or 'ranks'? At sixteen years old, Drizzt was admitted into the noble rank/ranks of his family as Secondboy.

Only when Drizzt reached a certain age did he officially become a noble of this particular city so I wasn't sure if he was admitted into the noble rank or ranks?

Instead of the noble ranks, I'd say
the ranks of the nobility.

It's a better collocation.
