Word choice

Here is the sentence: "I don't understand your (or you) campaigning for someone who is so narrow minded." Is you or your correct?

Top answer

Technically, because 'campaining' is a noun, the possessive 'your' is correct. Many native speakers avoid this because of possibly sounding 'stuffy'. I don't care if I sound stuffy or not if I'm correct.
