Isn’t addicted an adjective, though?

Inconsistently, Dictionary.com calls it an adjective in to be addicted to drugs yet gives the example addicted to video games under the verb category. I really can’t see it as anything but an adjective.

I would say so. Yes. I didn't see the word "addicted" anywhere in the original question though, so I didn't mention it in my reply.

Ah, you said It’s a noun or a verb, so I assumed that addicted in your example was meant to be a verb. And I can’t say I’ve ever encountered addict used as a verb.

Nothing on COCA?

Google has examples. I can't quote them, but one was something like "Junk food manufacturers are trying to addict us to chemicals".

A few.

Right. I probably have heard it then.

It’s curious to note that I can’t find one dictionary that gives a verb example for the word. Just adjectives.
