Wondered correct sentence or not

From CNN news

'Infected lungs filled with fluid making it difficult to breathe, so oxyzne can't get to the rest of the body which can lead to death.'

I think the underlined part has a grammatical error, but I am not sure how I correct it. Please give me an advice.

Thank you for your cooperation. Emotion: smile

There is a spelling error later in the sentence and there is a problem with tense consistency. Infected lungs fill with fluid making it difficult to breathe, so oxygen can`t get to the rest of the body and this can lead to death. If you want the past tense version, then you need to make more changes.
