I am not sure about your sentence. Maybe a native speaker can help you out.

Or, I wonder how Mrs. Bentley is doing.

It makes sense if you either know Mrs. Bentley recently had some sort of illness/injury/problem, or you haven't seen her or talked to her in a long time.

wonder is often said in other languages as "I'm asking myself", and I suppose that's wanting information, but we would never say "I have the desire to ...". We might say "I wonder ..." means "I keep thinking
