Without knowing numbers,

Please help me. I can't find any mistakes in the sentence but others said "yes". Thanks.

"Without knowing numbers, we cannot figure time, make change, build houses and so on."

I would use mathematics instead of numbers . Numbers is a perhaps slightly archaic synonym for arithmetic -- addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Mathematics includes arithmetic and a lot more; for example, calculus and the trigonometric functions.

Without numbers/arithmetic/mathematics, we cannot tell time, make change, or build houses.

("knowing" doesn't add anything that I can see. And I don't know why the "and so on" was tacked on.)

Without numbers/arithmetic/mathematics, we cannot tell time, make change, build houses, or do other similar tasks.

My first feel is it would be the usage of "and" if there is something wrong in your sentence,.

Which one sounds more natural?
"We cannot speak, read, and write English"
"We cannot speak, read, or write English"
