The sentence doesn't make much sense. The meaning of withdrawal is to take away something, to stop doing an activity, the action of taking money from your bank account or the process of no longer doing a past addiction. Though I suppose that the sentence might mean that their method of coping was taking money out of their bank account, it's still phrased in a strange way.

"Their method of coping was taking money out of their bank account."
Does it mean How were they coping (helping)with each other?
By taking money out...?

JadelTheir method of coping was taking money out of their bank account.
That is a highly fanciful interpretation of the original sentence.

And 'cope' doesn't mean 'help' either. See a dictionary if necessary.
