Vocabulary

Withdrawal

Hi,

Which one is the possible choice in the following context?

" It is difficult to tell when entertainment becomes addiction. Anyone who spends more than 40 hours a week online is probably suspect, and other clues are lying about the amount of time and money being spent online, neglect of other work and a withdrawal from / of social contacts."
I wonder if both are possible.
Thank you in advance,

Iman

Thank you Shawn, but Longman present withdrawal of with this meaning which makes sense to me: the act no longer taking part in an activity or being a member of an organization.

Don't you think it's a possible choice as well as the other?

Hi Iman, you're welcome. Emotion: smile

I'm looking at Longman's online dictionary definition of withdrawal here:

Yes. I've never been this sure.
But, thanks a lot Shawn. That was really fruitful.

I definitely believe you! Emotion: wink That's interesting. Does your Longman Dictionary give all six definitions that the online version does? Pl

Yes Shawn. All of them. And surprisingly enough that's my mobile phones's Dictionary.
