With & to

Hi, Good day to all.

This is a question about "plead". There is another word similar to it, appeal.

I understand that the word appeal is logically matched to the preposition "to", just like the word report. It is easy to comprehend it because, in the sense of telling, we do not report sb, we report sth to sb. So, by analogy, for "appeal" we do not appeal sb, we appeal to sb for sth.

If I really want to use a transitive verb with the same sense, I can use "entreat" or "implore", because we can entreat sb or implore sb.

But for "plead", I cannot get the true feeling or reason why it should be used with "with".

"plead" is different from the verb "agree", it is right to say I agree with you, because we cannot say I agree you. That is not logical to me.

Could you tell me the feeling or reason behind "plead with"?

Thank you.
