"With the night coming on, the wind began to blow."

"With the night coming on, the wind began to blow."

I have learned that with nouns + ing or ed or adjectives means two actions happen at the same time like

I walked with my dog following.

I stood with my arms crossed.

Don't talk with your mouth full.

The two actions in each sentence happen at the same time and then how about the example? I feel like 'with the night coming on' is a cause and 'the wind began to blow' is a result or can we rewrite it as

While the night came on, the wind began to blow.

Or As soon as the night came on, the wind began to blow.

What do you native English speakers think?

Thank you so much in advance.

I wouldn't necessarily see it as a cause and effect. I would see it as one thing happening at the same time as another. Perhaps someone is in a situation that will be made more difficult by the dark (and perhaps cold) of night, and further complicated by the rising wind.
