With s or without s?

Which grammar is correct, Do you like ~? (fruits, animals, sports, movies, etc.)Same with What ~ do you like? When should we use the word with -s ?

With "what," both the question and the answer may be singular or plural. If the question is singular, it means you expect a singular answer.

"Fruit" could be an exception: A singular question could allow a singular answer or a plural answer.

What fruit do you like? (reply) Apples and oranges.
OR Bananas.

What fruits do you like? (reply) Figs, grapes, and lemons.

For those who want the most common answer,
with the first question, "sport" in the singular would be uncommon.

In the second question, if you want a singular answer, you'd probably ask, "What is your favorite animal? - etc."

If you're at the cinema, trying to decide on a movie to see, you'd probably ask, "Which movie do you like?"
