Grammar

with "s" or without "s"

Hi Teachers,

I would like to know the differences as follow: Do they differ in meanings? Which one should be correct (commonly used)?

What kind of book do you like to read?

What kinds of books do you like to read?

What kind of books do you like to read?

What kinds of book do you like to read?

All are used, but the ones that are consistent ( -s + -s ; no -s + no -s ) are better style. The speaker may or may not have more than one kind of book in mind, and the listener may answer with one or more, whichever question form is used.
