Dear Sagar I am always fearful of answering medical questions: it's not my subject.. However, in English hospitals, if a patient is to have an operation, then they may be described as "nil by mouth" This means that they must not be given food or drink before the operation Hope this may help, Dave

Thanks Mr.Sri. I just want to know whether w/o is same in case of empty stomach. Let me know your opinion.

Hi Sagar,

In case of empty stomach, you have to use the abbreviation a.c.

a.c. = ante cibum (latin)

You can simply write it in English to avoid confusion. Use abbreviations, if necessary.
