The woman tried to hang herself with a sheet.I know we can hang with rope tying around a neck, but how we can hang "with a sheet". Please help me with this.

I know "sheet" is a piece of cloth, but I don't know how one can hang with a "piece of cloth". We usually hang with rope.

Well User_gary, till now I never got the opportunity to hang myself and I hope I never get to do so in the future also, but based on what I saw in movies, the person knots one end of the sheet of cloth to the ceiling and the other end of the sheet around his/her neck. I am not certain if the sheet of cloth will be able to bear the weight of the person.
Those who have used a sheet may be able to explain the advantages of using a sheet as compared to a rope. Perhaps, a sheet is easily available in the house whereas a rope may have to be purchased from a shop.

If you twist a sheet up it turns into a sort of very thick rope - also used for escaping out of prison windows if you believe the cartoons.
