'wish' vs 'wish for'

Please tell me which combination is more correct:

He wishes for his resignation as a Manager.

or

He wishes his resignation as a Manager.

Are we talking about 2 different people here or the one that is doing the wishes is the same as the one that is being wished on?

Well, I was assuming that the second 'he' is a different person. If it's not, my answer might not be correct.

I suggest "He hopes for" is more common than "He wishes."

He hopes for his resignation as manager.
