But as past tenses after wish are used with a present or future meaning, my sentence is grammatically correct, isn't it??

No, "happened" is past tense, "now" implies present tense. They need to match.

You may be thinking of the word "were", which is usually used as the past tense of "is" (for "we"). "Were" is also used in unreal conditionals (wishes, hopes, etc.) "were" is used: "I wish I were a millionaire."

Using the past tense for future hopes isn't a general rule.

No. The grammar of 'wish' is unusual.

happen is a dynamic verb. The only practical choices are with would (+ inf) or had (+ pp).

I wish something interesting would happen ([now / soon]). future

I wish something interes
