Wish structure

Hello

Could you please tell me which opinion is correct?

-In Practical English Usage page No.628, Michael Swan explains that WISH + THAT CLAUSE
is not generally used for wishes about things that seem possible in the future.

while,Marcella Frank in Modern English page No.68 believes that WOULD is used for a wish that is possible to realize.

Thanks a lot.
