Wish sentences

Hello,

How should I say this sentence?

I wish this lesson was over.
I wish this lesson would be over.

What's the difference?

Thanks.

Regards,
Henry

If you are attending school at this very moment, most grammarians would prefer I wish this lesson were over! However, in informal English was is commonly used instead. Would is fine in reference to the future : I wish it would n't rain tomorrow !
