wish I could tell you that things are/were gonna be different

(1) I wish I could tell you that things are gonna be different and that I'm gonna be different. But I can't tell you that.
(2) I wish I could tell you that things were gonna be different and that I was gonna be different. But I can't tell you that.

Are both of these grammatically correct in terms of the tenses of the 'that' clauses?
