Hello friends!
What is the difference between these two sentences? Are they both correct?
1. I wish he stopped smoking. Does this refer to a present action? meaning he's smoking now.
2. I wish he would stop smoking. Does this refer to a general or future action?
Thank You!

mango paint 9541. I wish he stopped smoking.
This isn't correct. This tense pattern applies to continuous or repeated actions or states; for example, "I wish he smoked" would be OK. It does not work with "stopped smoking" because that is a single discrete action.
