hello everyone, today, totally by accident, I came across this forum and I find it amazing and very very helpful. I'm Polish and my english level doesn't satisfy me at all (I've been learning it for 3 years) and I have a lot of question to pose..;] so firstly, could you help me in this exercice? : 1) "I would prefer you not to smoke, if you don't mind." using word wish I've to complete the following sentence: I.........................smoke, if you don't mind. I would fit the gap with: would rather you didn't but I doubt if it'sappropriate
Top answer
The instructions are to use the word ' wish ', so of course you cannot insert 'would rather'. I wish you wouldn't smoke, if you don't mind.
