Grammar

-wise

Hi,

How do you recognise when it’s appropriate to use the suffix ‘-wise’ and when not? Is there a rule in place that helps you decide which words it can be paired with?

For instance:

“How far is it distancewise?”

I’d be more likely to say it differently, but I’m curious about the usage of ‘-wise’.

Thank you.
