Vocabulary

wired

The evidence suggests that we are genetically [wired] to consider certain characteristics more attractive than others. A woman’s face should be symmetrical with clear skin, a small chin and nose, a narrow jaw and slim eyebrows, but full, well-defined lips and cheeks, and large eyes.

I couldn't find any source defining this usage of "wired". Would you please define it with a proper example?

It means that people weren't taught this preference; the suggestion is that it is an innate tendency people are born with. I realize that you are not asking for our opinion on the subject matter, but a symmetrical face and clear skin are the only two I would believe are not taught. These things are not taught outright, but they are what is culturally accepted.

Many experts say that sexual orientation and identification are a result of how the brain is innately wired. It seems that environment is not really a factor in the matter. It is a genetic predisposition.

I'm an optimistic person. I'm hardwired that way.
