Vocabulary

Wipe, rub, scrub, mop

Hi,

Can you explain their differences?

The window is dirty, so we should it.

I guess, if the window is dirty because there is some dust on it, wipe or mop is proper.

If it is dirty because there is, say, a kind of ink on it which is hard to erase, scrub is proper.

If it is dirty because there are some stickers children stick on it, apply some water and rub them is proper.

Can somebody correct me?

Thank you very much.

Hi The window is dirty, so we should WIPE it. (we mop the floor) If it is dirty because there is, say, a kind of ink on it: Wipe is proper again and not any other word. If it is dirty because there are some stickers children stick on it, apply some water and rub them is proper.

Hi

The window is dirty, so we should WIPE it. I don't think MOP is proper.(we mop the floor)

If it is dirty because there is, say, a kind of ink on it:

Wipe is proper again and not any other word.

If it is dirty because there are some stickers children stick on it, apply some water and rub them is proper. [Y]

Thank you very much.

When will you use scrub? I looked the word up, and know it means rub hard.

I found a phrase from the dictionary: scrub the floor.

What is the difference between scrub the floor and wipe the floor?

Hi

Here are the appropriate words of wipe :

wipe the water, wipe the dirt, wipe the bench.........

'Scrub' is used when you are struggling to wipe something, like a stain.

Hope now you get a clear idea about the difference between the words.

Wipe is the motion one makes when sliding one's hand across a surface, usually holding a cloth or piece of paper.

Mop is using a mop or similar device to soak up water or clean the floor.

Rub is a backwards and forwards motion on a surface with a bare hand or cloth or similar.

Scrub is a motion similar to rubbing, but holding a stiff-bristled brush.

You can wipe
