Vocabulary

winter/the winter

Hello,
Which one would sounds better in:
A: What's your favorite time of the ear?
B: Winter/The winter.
And here: "The winter/Winter is my favorite time of the year".
I've heard people use both, but that's probably not right.

Ops... I am sorry for the "sounds" part. Emotion: big smile

CalifJimwithout "the".
I usually omit "the". How does it make the sentence sound odd? The summer/winter is... would refer to the two seasons in general, not the summer of 69.

Gene93Would: "Spring arrived late this year" and "It's getting colder. Winter is definitely on its way" sound better than the versions with "the"?
Yes. It's almost as if the names of seasons are the names of people.

The Joseph is on his way for Joseph is on his way is about as strange as The winter
