It’s now ‘margazhi’-[mid-December to mid-January]. Very unique month. ‘Among the months I am Margazhi” said Lord Krishna in the Gita. The ambience around the month is always suffused with religious fervor and sanctity. Since the month is considered a sacred one, people wake up at the wee hours of mornings, bathe in ice cold water and visit temples. The courtyard of my house is now mopped with cow dung, and decorated with a striking Peacock kolam of rice flour. A pilaiyar [Lord Ganesh] made out of cow dung emerges from the middle of the kolam, sporting a shoe flower on his head.
