Winter is coming...

Hey,

In hebrew (my language), you have a saying: "The winter is in the door". I konw that you can't say this in English. Do you have an equivalent saying?

Thanks in Advanced,
Galia

the meaning is that the winter starts, or going to start soon.

The usual expression is "Winter is knocking at/on the door". I'm pretty sure I've also heard "Winter is at the door".

Thanks Emotion: nodding sounds reasonable.

A more common AmE idiom is "around the corner".

Winter is just around the corner.

Yes, either "Winter is just around the corner." or "Winter is knocking at the door." Both of these statements refer to the fact that the winter season is approaching, but that it is not yet technically winter. If winter was just beginning you could also say "Winter is upon us."
