Wind/the wind

Is the use of "the" before "wind" in the passage below correct?
The wind is an important part of the weather conditions. It is formed by the movement of air. The wind has many important functions. It can help plants spread theirs seeds. The wind can also be used to make electricity.

Most readers will be indifferent to whether you use "the" or not. Both work.

However, note: ... part of weather conditions. (No 'the'.)
And: ... spread their seeds. (Not 'theirs'.)
