If I wanted to say that we were expecting strong winds and then I would like to add that the winds kicked in at night, would I still stick to the plural form or would I just say:"The forecast predicted that Austria would be struck by strong winds today but the wind(s) kicked in at night."
It's probably a stupid question and I'd go with the plural form but I need some assurance.
Thank you.
