Windows

You can leave the window wide open or ajar at the top or you can just turn the handle on the window to one side. The window will be almost closed and the air from outside will still get in. What would you call that position?

I apologize if I'm not being clear enough. I don't really know how to explain it.

Whichever it is, it's unlikely we have any special word for that position other than those words you have already used in your post to describe it.
