Win Democrats the House, Senate, and the White House

The negotiations were part of a hoped-for drive to deliver on promises that won Democrats the House, Senate and the White House in 2020.

Hi, in the paragraph above from Huffpost, the usage of 'win' seems to have a meaning of "help someone get something", as if "win someone something". I wonder if I understood right.

Can someone help me?

Thank you!!
