Hi

Would you say that all the red words are synonymous and equally natural in everyday English?

The plants were wilting in the heat.

The plants were drooping in the heat.

The plants were withering in the heat.

The plants were shriveling in the heat.

As you probably know, they all mean the plants were short of water. #1 and #2 (if you had helpfully numbered them) are far more common than 3 and 4.
