Now, many scientific institutes conduct research on live animals. Some people regard it as cruel and unnecessary, while others believe it is justified in the interest of human welfare. In this day and age, it is no exaggeration to say that never has there been a century like the 21^st ones with the most unprecedented achievements in the field of modern medicine, which can be partly put down to advances in vivisection. Many people hold their view that this activity should be reduced to restrictions while others lend justification to those experiments in the interest of welfare.

Advocates of animal experimentation maintain that animals are able to assist human beings in making groundbreaking discoveries in the medicinal aspect, which will accompany a flying leap in life expectancy considerably. For instance, in times past, the average age in Japan was among sixties compared to that of more than eighties recently. This marked progress has been made possible due to advanced treatments largely attributed to the striking resemblance among human beings and animals, which promote individuals to enjoy their higher living standards.

On the other hand, the majority of people deplore the brutality of those live experiments. Conventional wisdom is that before being put into practice, numerous newly invented medicines have to be applied to animals, thereby tremendous sufferings on innocent victims, or worse, posing a deadly threat to them. Many opponents claim that human welfare is not the only excuse for slaughtering animals, consequently, such activities as using illegal treatments on animals are considered as the infringement of human rights.

In conclusion, although there are many reasonable arguments behind vivisection for human sake, those practices may be to the detriment of animals illustrated by its overwhelming downsides. As a result, government and individuals should join forces to turn out alternative methods to ensure those precious lives.
