Will you check my English?

Hello. Will you correct my English if any?

M: I need two copies of today's Daily Yomiuri.

F: They were [are] just sold out.
Why don't you try the magazine stand over there?

M: OK. I heard there's an article about my university on the
front page.

Thank you!

I'm very sorry, but I don't agree to your comments.

Q Why should I write "Can you ..."? I think "Will you correct ... " is fine.

Q Is "Its were ..." right? I've never seen the expression, "Its were".

I hope other members will help me. Thank you.

Kenta, in my opinion, it's more polite to say "Could you ...?" Its less demanding. Your version is also correct. It basically says, are you willing to corect...? but note that it's less graceful. Just my thought.

The third sentence is unclear. 'Why don't you try the magazine stand over there?'

How can a person TRY A MAGAZINE STAND?

Instead: 'How about the magazines on that stand, they are similar to Daily Yomiuri'

I think, strictly speaking, a comma is needed after 'mistakes'. (... mistakes, please?)
