Will or would

Hi.

I was wondering if it would be better to use 'would' in the sentence below.

<A few years ago, I was watching a TV program on the decision of what country will/would be the host of the 2018 Winter Olympics Game. >


I think 'would' is correct, as the point of time at which I was watching TV is past, and in terms of verb agreement, 'would' works better than will. Even though the event will be held in 2018, we already know the host country is decided.


What do you think?
