will or would

1) I (will/would) be surprised if he is in middle school.
2) I (will/would) be surprised if he didn't study.
3) I (will/would) be surprised if he hasn't studied.

which one should i use for these three sentences? thank you for the help!

This is just a thought, and I am not certain so hopefully other people will respond. But, generally speaking when forming a future conditional you can use "will be" when "if" or "unless" are the conditions, and you can use "would be" when "if" or "what if" are the conditions. Since both can be used with "if" clauses this makes this a tough and tricky question, but the next determinate is the tense of the verb in the conditional statement.
