Will or going to ?

Hello,
I have a question again ; generally I know the difference between WILL and GOING TO, but sometimes I can't decide which one to use, especially with conditionals, for example;
If it rains today , I will stay at home or I am going to stay at home. ( Which is correct ? )

Another sentence ;
If I have a lot of money, I will buy a more expensive car or I am going to buy a more expensive car. ( Which is correct ? )

Can I use both will and going to after a conditional sentence ? If yes, what is the difference ?
Thanks for your help.

If it rains today , I will stay at home or I am going to stay at home. -- Both OK ) If I have a lot of money, I will buy a more expensive car or I am going to buy a more expensive car. -- Both OK ) Can I use both will and going to after a conditional sentence ?

  • If it rains today , I will stay at home or I am going to stay at home.
  • -- Both OK ) If I have a lot of money, I will buy a more expensive car or I am going to buy a more expensive car.
  • -- Both OK ) Can I use both will and going to after a conditional sentence ?
  • -- The forms are given somewhat different intent by grammarians-- 'will' future is a simple statement of future fact and 'going-to' future is an indication of intention.
  • However, the fact is that native speakers more often use one or the other from habit, and speak either with essentially the same meaning-- especially when 'will' is contracted (as is usual) to '-'ll'.
