Will have or would have

Teacher, can you see to see if there are errors? Here I am not sure if I should use "would have" instead of "will have"? Thank you.

We sent you a cheque ($100) to pay for your taxi fares to attend the medical appointment. If you decide to ask a friend to drive you there, we have calculated the mileage and we need only to pay you $50 to pay for the gas. In this instance, you will have to return $50 to us and we would prefer that you mail a cheque to us in that amount.

I see nothing wrong with 'would' but think that 'will' is better, since you have the present in 'if you decide'
