Will do nothing

1) He will do nothing for us.
2) He will not do anything for us.

3) He saw nothing.
4) He did not see anything.

I generally use '2' and '4'. I think '1' and '3' correct but are much more emphatic than '2' and '4'. Is that correct?

Gratefully,
Navi.
