will cheer at the news

Most of the Pakistanis will cheer at the news of the stepping down of Parvez Mussaraf (/cheered at the news that Parvez Mussaraf has stepped down). The news will come as a great joy and relief for them because this was the man who usurped power in a bloodless coup in 1999, ousting the then elected Prime Minister Newaz Sharif. The General banished democracy from Pakistan and ruled he country with an iron fist.

Are there any mistakes? Are both the choices in the first sentence correct? Thanks.

AvangiMost of the Pakistanis
Thanks Avangi. Would you please clarify as to why you have deleted "of the"? Do you think the expression "most of the Pakistanis" is wrong? If so, why and if not, what do you think is the difference between "most of the Pakistanis" and "Most Pakistanis"?

I don't think it's wrong - maybe just bad style.

We'd say, "Most of the Pakistanis we talked to thought it was a good thing." You could even eliminate "of the" from this sentence, but I think it's better to include it. I'm too tired to find a good explanation at the moment.
