Will be would

Jack: I just broke up with my girlfriend and I am not even sad. As a matter of fact its my third time I have broken up with her. And it has always been her fault for this. I am trying to talk to her again at all.
Alex: Come on, brother, it happens in a relationship. I just talked to your girlfriend and she said she is ready to settle it and have a good relationship again.
Jack: I am not talking to her anymore. She wouldn't understand me.
Alex: If you tried to talk to her, she would apologize to you, I am pretty sure.

Or,

Alex: If you try to talk to her, she would apologize to you.

tried and would because Alex says "I'm pretty sure". If he were absolutely positive, you could use try and will.
