Will attend or will be attending - phl

Hi Everybody,

I would like to confirm the attendance of Dr. Wilson to a conference on Monday. Shall I write:

Dr. Wilson will attend the conference on Monday.

or

Dr. Wilson will be attending the conference on Monday.

And may I know please the difference between the two. Thank you very much!
