Will and would

Alex: I am going to ask one of your friends, Jack, to lend me some money even though is am not close to him.
Martinez: I am sure he will not because he is currently broke.

And,

Alex: I need to ask somebody to lend me some money. I am completely broke. I don't know who I should ask.
Martinez: Ask John.
Alex: No, he is not even my friend.
Martinez: I am sure he would lend you money; he is a nice guy.
