Widsith and Riddle - old english question

Is there any way possibility that Widsith can be a Riddle? (Old English)

Top answer

I don't see anything in the internet coverage of this poem that mentions the possibility of it being a riddle. What makes you think it might be a riddle? And, more generally, any poem might be said to be a "riddle," since the text of any poem might have several interpretations (this one is no exception - particularly if you're reading it in the original Old English), the "riddle" being the "right" interpretation of it.

It doesn't seem to be one. I would think that "I" in the poem might refer to scops in general, as it seems unlikely that one person would have travelled so much in those days.
