Hi, I found these two examples with the widespeard word I understand in each the meaning diffrenet, what fit more for my text?

Hi Mister, I had one meaning of "common" and the other "prevailing" something like that, but I see that I can understand it as it sounds "spread widely" I was just not sure... thanks
