Why do we say "You are the birthday party" and we don't say "you are the birthday's party"?

Hi, We don't really say either. They are not natural things to say. A coommon thing to say is eg It's your birthday.

We might say "You're the birthday boy/girl." (I can't really explain why "birthday" here is not possessive -- it would never have occurred to me that anyone would think it should be. The boy/girl does not belong to the birthday. "Birthday" is a noun functioning as an adjective, describing the boy or girl.)
