Why do we say "You are racist" without "a" before "racist" and we say "You are a doctor" with a before "doctor"?

So, what is the difference in the meaning between these:

a)You are racist.

b)You are a racist.

Hi,

There's no real difference, although I think the noun form is more common.
It's like saying
You are foolish.
You are a fool.
