Why you think you deserve the scholarship? Word limit 500?

Dear Sir or Madam

Scholarships encourage promising students, especially the ones who need financial assistance, to pursue their academic dreams. I can confidently claim that I am one such promising student who is looking forward to touching and inspiring many more lives through my academic successes.

I earned both Master's and BS degrees in Chemistry from Govt. College University Pakistan. I have achieved a consistent high grades, consistently amongst the top deciles and was honored to be the only student in BS Class to obtain a distinction awards (Distinguished Researcher and Presidential scholarships for BS study, top 5%). I have twelve international publications.
I was not born into a wealthy family. I was only about 5 to 6 years old when father was died and my mother had to work very hard to ensure that I and my brothers were given a decent living and a good education. I grew up with many hardships in my belief, built my character very strong. I am a self made person and I had to support not only myself, my education but also had to look after the financial matter of my family members as well. However, my scholarship was not sufficient to meet all the expenses and therefore I often had to part time job with studies.

The more challenges I faced, the stronger I became and learned to fight and stand up no matter what it calls for. This was the main reason that I never wanted to give up my dream of pursuing as a research scientist in Chemistry which is the next step in my progression toward my goal.

The Singapore International Graduate Award (SINGA) is the place that has every capability in helping me in making my dream a reality. With a doctorate degree in Chemistry from National University of Singapore (NUS), I would certainly be equipped to take up any challenge in the world of Chemistry as a confident professional with broadened perspectives. I know NUS is the place that I should be in to make my mother proud and happy, give back my best to my community and my nation at large. If my application is accepted by Singa award, the doors would be open for me to be exposed to the world-class education, challenging educational environments and, most importantly, valuable networking opportunities.

I am currently working as a junior forensic scientist/Latent Fingerprint Examiner and have got certified national and international training at Punjab Forensic Science Agency Pakistan (PFSA) in collaboration with Australian Federal Police (AFP) and National Center for Forensic Studies, Australia. PFSA is the 2nd largest of its kind ASCLD laboratory in the world and first in the Asia. My job responsibilities show my leadership qualities because I have to collaborate with different law enforcement organizations, crime laboratories and research scientists.

I am certain about exceeding all your expectations, may it be academic excellence, motivation for research or interpersonal skills. Therefore I consider myself a well deserving candidate for this scholarship.
